What Should a Weekly Construction Progress Report Tell You?
A construction update should answer more than:
“Work is going well.”
A useful weekly report gives the homeowner enough context to understand the project without spending every day at the site.
- Work completed — What measurable work was completed during the reporting period?
- Current activities — What is happening now?
- Photographic evidence — Photographs should correspond to identifiable locations or stages.
- Upcoming work — What is planned next?
- Decisions required — Does the homeowner need to approve a selection or clarify something?
- Materials and procurement — Are important upcoming materials ready or awaiting decisions?
- Issues or risks — If something could affect schedule, cost or execution, it should not be hidden.
