When Does the 2026 World Series Start?
Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026.
MLB says the opening game will be played at the home stadium of whichever league champion had the better 2026 regular-season record.
The same club receives home-field advantage and is scheduled to host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 6 and 7 if those games are necessary. Games 3, 4 and a possible Game 5 are played at the other league champion's stadium.
Because neither pennant winner has been determined yet, the host city for Game 1 is also still unknown.
What Time Does the World Series Start?
Exact 2026 World Series first-pitch times have not yet been announced.
MLB's official October schedule currently lists the World Series games as TBD, while FOX Sports says start times will be announced after the American League and National League champions are known.
That distinction is important for anyone searching for “World Series start time.”
Any specific first-pitch time published before MLB confirms it should be treated cautiously.
Once MLB releases the official times, this page should be updated with Eastern Time, Pacific Time, UK time and major continental European time zones.
2026 World Series European Start Times
Because the official first-pitch times are still TBD, exact European start times cannot yet be published responsibly.
There is also an unusual time-zone issue during the 2026 World Series.
Most European countries change from summer time to standard time on Sunday, October 25, while most of the United States does not end daylight saving time until November 1.
As a result, the Europe-to-US time difference changes during the World Series.
For example, if MLB schedules a game for 8:00 p.m. US Eastern Time, the approximate conversions would be:

The final table should be updated when official times are published.
What Channel Is the World Series on in the US?
Every game of the 2026 World Series will air nationally on FOX.
MLB's postseason schedule also lists FOX Deportes for Spanish-language coverage, while FOX says the championship series will be available through FOX One.
For viewers with access to a local FOX broadcast affiliate, the games may also be available over conventional broadcast television.
Availability can vary by market and provider.
How to Stream the 2026 World Series in the US
FOX identifies several ways to access its postseason coverage.
World Series games are scheduled to be available through:
FOX One
FOX Sports App, subject to eligible access
FOXSports.com, with eligible TV-provider authentication
live-TV services that include the viewer's local FOX station
Consumers should check local channel availability before subscribing to a streaming service because FOX affiliate coverage can differ between markets.
Can You Watch the World Series on MLB.TV?
Yes, but the rules differ depending on location.
MLB states that 2026 postseason games are available live internationally through MLB.TV, excluding Canada.
MLB is currently advertising an international postseason MLB.TV package that includes postseason games live outside Canada.
In the United States, live postseason viewing through MLB.TV is subject to network authentication and other restrictions.
For many European baseball fans, MLB.TV therefore provides an additional way to watch the World Series alongside local broadcasters.
How to Watch the World Series in the UK and Ireland
MLB lists TNT Sports as the postseason and World Series rightsholder for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
UK fans may therefore have two principal options depending on subscription and availability:
TNT Sports through its supported television or streaming distribution, and MLB.TV, which MLB says carries live postseason games internationally outside Canada.
Because most World Series games are traditionally played during US evening hours, UK viewers should expect many games to take place after midnight local time once official first pitches are announced.
How to Watch in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
MLB lists SportDigital+ as its postseason rightsholder covering Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
MLB.TV is also available internationally under its 2026 postseason terms.
For games held after October 25, Germany and neighboring Central European markets will have returned to CET, reducing the usual US Eastern-to-Central Europe difference by one hour until the US daylight-saving change on November 1.
How to Watch in France
beIN Sports France is listed by MLB as the postseason rightsholder for France and several associated territories.
International MLB.TV access is another option under the league's stated 2026 postseason streaming rules.
How to Watch in Italy
MLB lists Sky Italia as the postseason rightsholder for Italy, with coverage rights also extending to Malta, Vatican City and San Marino.
MLB.TV is also available internationally.
How to Watch in Spain
MLB's official international broadcaster list identifies Movistar+ as the postseason rightsholder for Spain.
Spain follows Central European time, so late-evening US starts will generally appear in the early hours of the following morning.
How to Watch in the Netherlands
MLB lists ESPN Netherlands as the postseason broadcaster for the Netherlands.
How to Watch in Scandinavia
Viaplay holds postseason rights across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, according to MLB's international broadcaster information.
Local schedules should still be checked before each game because individual channel and streaming arrangements can vary.
World Series 2026 Teams: Who Is Playing?
The matchup is not yet set as of October 7.
The World Series brings together the winners of the American League Championship Series and National League Championship Series.
MLB's current postseason calendar schedules the NLCS to begin October 11 and the ALCS on October 12. Potential Game 7s are scheduled for October 19 in the NLCS and October 20 in the ALCS.
That leaves at least two scheduled off-days before World Series Game 1 on October 23.
Current Road to the World Series
The Division Series remained active on October 7.
Among the National League contenders, the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers entered October 7 leading the Atlanta Braves 2-1 in their NLDS, following a 3-1 victory in Game 3.
Other Division Series involving Milwaukee, San Diego, Tampa Bay, New York, Chicago and Cleveland were also determining who would advance to the Championship Series.
The World Series matchup therefore should not be added to headlines or metadata until both pennants have actually been won.
How Does the World Series Work?
The World Series is a best-of-seven series.
The first club to win four games becomes the MLB champion.
Games 1 and 2 are hosted by the club with home-field advantage. The series then moves to the opponent's stadium for Games 3 and 4 and, if needed, Game 5.
If Game 6 or Game 7 is necessary, the series returns to the original host.
A sweep would end the World Series after Game 4 on October 27.
World Series Home-Field Advantage in 2026
MLB no longer assigns World Series home-field advantage based on the result of the All-Star Game.
For 2026, the pennant winner with the better regular-season record receives home-field advantage.
That club will host Games 1, 2, 6 and 7, with Games 6 and 7 played only if required.
Latest 2026 World Series Odds
World Series futures remain fluid during the playoffs and can change after virtually every postseason game.
As of October 7, FanDuel Research's live MLB page listed the Los Angeles Dodgers at +160 as the shortest-priced team in its World Series winner market, followed by Milwaukee at +360 and Tampa Bay at +440.
These numbers can change rapidly and differ between sportsbooks.
Odds should therefore be labelled with the source and update date rather than presented as permanent rankings.
They also represent a betting market's pricing, not a prediction that a particular team will win.
Sports betting availability and legal requirements vary by jurisdiction. Readers should follow applicable local laws and age restrictions.
Who Won the 2025 World Series?
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2025 World Series, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games.
That makes Los Angeles the defending champion entering the 2026 postseason.
Whether the Dodgers return to the World Series depends on the remaining National League playoff rounds.
When Could the World Series End?
There are four principal possibilities:
Game 4: Tuesday, October 27 — earliest possible end if one team sweeps 4-0.
Game 5: Wednesday, October 28 — if a fifth game is required.
Game 6: Friday, October 30.
Game 7: Saturday, October 31 — latest scheduled finish.
The series ends immediately once one club records its fourth victory.

What Should Fans Check Next?
The next major update to this page should come once the League Championship Series determines the two pennant winners.
The article should then be updated with:
American League champion;
National League champion;
Game 1 host city;
complete stadium schedule;
exact first-pitch times;
confirmed UK and European local times;
probable Game 1 starting pitchers when officially announced;
updated World Series odds; and
any broadcaster-specific programme changes.
Until those announcements are made, publishing speculative teams or start times would reduce the page's accuracy.
