Two workers killed in Telangana pharma unit reactor blast
Two workers were killed, and nine others injured after a reactor explosion triggered a fire at a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Telangana's Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district late on Friday night, August 21.
The accident occurred at Hazelo Lab Pvt. Ltd. near Dothigudem in Pochampally mandal, according to reports citing police and local officials.
The explosion happened around the time workers were changing shifts, after which flames spread through part of the facility.
Emergency services were called to the site, and fire personnel later brought the blaze under control.
What happened at the pharma plant?
Initial information from police indicates that a reactor inside the pharmaceutical unit exploded before a fire broke out.
- Two employees lost their lives in the incident.
- Nine other workers were injured and taken to different hospitals for treatment.
- Police said two of those injured sustained burns covering more than 50% of their bodies, while several others suffered comparatively minor injuries.
