vivo Has Just Dropped a Battery Monster Into India’s Mid-Range Smartphone Battle
Big battery? That’s becoming normal.
Fast display? Also normal.
But putting a 7,050mAh battery inside a slim 7.99mm phone, adding a 144Hz curved AMOLED display, and wrapping it around a new Dimensity processor? That’s where the new vivo T5 5G gets interesting.
Vivo officially launched the T5 5G in India on September 2, 2026, expanding its increasingly crowded T-series. And vivo appears to be making one thing very clear: battery life doesn’t have to mean carrying a brick in your pocket.
The new T5 combines a huge battery with a relatively slim curved design while targeting buyers looking around the ₹35,000–₹50,000 segment.

But specifications are only half the story. The bigger question is: has vivo priced it aggressively enough?
vivo T5 5G Price in India
The T5 arrives in four configurations:
Variant
Official Price
6GB + 128GB
₹34,999
8GB + 128GB
₹39,999
8GB + 256GB
₹44,999
12GB + 256GB
₹49,999
The phone comes in two colours: Royal Bronze and Silver Green.
Sales begin on September 9, 2026, through Flipkart, vivo India’s e-store, and partner retail stores.
But Launch Offers Make the ₹34,999 Price More Interesting
Vivo is offering introductory bank discounts. Buyers using eligible HDFC Bank, SBI and Axis Bank cards can receive:
₹3,500 instant discount on the 6GB + 128GB version
Up to ₹4,000 instant discount on other variants
That brings the effective starting price down to ₹31,499. There’s also up to six months of no-cost EMI under the introductory offer.
At ₹34,999, the T5 enters a brutally competitive market.
At around ₹31,499 after the eligible offer, it becomes much more interesting.
The 7,050mAh Battery Is the Headline Feature
Let’s start with the number everyone will notice: 7,050mAh.
Not long ago, a 5,000mAh smartphone battery was considered large. Now vivo is pushing beyond 7,000mAh while keeping the T5 at approximately 7.99mm thick. That combination is arguably more impressive than battery capacity alone.
Vivo calls it a BlueVolt battery. According to the company’s testing, the phone can provide up to around 34.7 hours of local video playback and 85 hours of music playback.
Real-world battery life will naturally vary with 5G use, brightness, gaming, camera use and background applications, but a 7,050mAh capacity gives the T5 a substantial starting advantage.
44W Charging: Big Battery, But Not Crazy Fast
The T5 supports 44W FlashCharge.
That’s useful, but it is one specification some power users will question. A 7,050mAh battery is enormous, and larger batteries naturally take more energy to refill. So while 44W is respectable, this isn’t one of those phones built around ultra-fast 100W-plus charging.
Vivo’s trade-off appears clear: prioritize battery endurance and longevity rather than chasing maximum charging wattage. The company claims the battery can retain useful health across approximately 1,600 charge cycles, corresponding to its advertised five-year battery-health positioning.
The Display Looks More Like a Premium Phone
Turn the phone around and another major feature appears. The vivo T5 uses a 6.83-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED display.
Resolution: 2800 × 1260 pixels
Refresh Rate: Up to 144Hz
Pixel Density: 449 PPI
High Brightness Mode: Up to 2,000 nits
Local Peak Brightness: Up to 3,000 nits
On paper, that’s a serious display package. Most buyers will notice the AMOLED contrast and high refresh rate more than the technical numbers. Scrolling should feel extremely smooth, and games capable of taking advantage of high refresh rates could benefit too.
144Hz vs 120Hz: Will You Actually Notice?
This needs some perspective.
Moving from 60Hz to 120Hz can feel dramatic, but moving from 120Hz to 144Hz is much less dramatic. You may notice it during high-speed gaming and extremely fast scrolling, but don’t buy the T5 purely because “144 is bigger than 120.”
The stronger selling point is the entire display package: 1.5K resolution + AMOLED + curved design + high brightness + 144Hz. Together, those specifications give the T5 a premium visual identity.
MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo Is Running the Show
Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo, manufactured on a 4nm process.
Vivo claims an AnTuTu benchmark score of approximately 1.2 million. As always, manufacturer benchmark numbers shouldn’t be treated as guaranteed real-world results, but the chipset places the T5 firmly in performance-focused mid-range territory.
vivo Is Also Pushing On-Device AI
The processor is accompanied by the MediaTek NPU 850, and vivo is making some fairly aggressive AI claims.
According to the company, on-device AI computing can be up to 233% faster in its specified comparison, including running a 3-billion-parameter language model at roughly 10 tokens per second under test conditions. Local AI can potentially improve speed, privacy, offline functionality and responsiveness.
Cooling Has Also Received Serious Attention
Performance means little if a phone becomes excessively hot. The T5 therefore includes a 3,800mm² vapor chamber within a total cooling area vivo states at approximately 23,062mm².
That’s particularly relevant for gaming, 4K recording, heavy multitasking, AI workloads and prolonged 5G use.
Camera: 50MP Sony IMX882 With OIS
The main rear camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera.
4K Video on Both Front and Rear: One interesting feature is 4K recording at 30fps on both front and rear cameras. The rear main camera combines OIS and EIS, while the front camera supports electronic stabilization — useful for vlogging, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and travel videos.
AI Camera Features: The T5 includes vivo’s AI photography features such as AI Erase 2.0 for removing unwanted objects and AI UHD for improving detail and resolution, alongside multifocal portrait photography and vivo-style bokeh effects.
IP68 + IP69 Is a Major Addition
Here’s another specification that shouldn’t be ignored: IP68 + IP69.
That gives the T5 serious dust and water-resistance credentials under standardized test conditions (with IP69 adding resistance against high-pressure/high-temperature water jets). Vivo is also advertising military-grade durability.
While water resistance can degrade over time, stronger physical protection is genuinely useful for buyers keeping a phone for several years.
OriginOS 6 Comes Out of the Box
The T5 runs OriginOS 6, representing vivo’s newer software experience for India. The software includes various AI features, creation tools and productivity functions.
Over three or four years of ownership, software experience and update support can become just as important as benchmark numbers.
The Design Is Surprisingly Slim for a 7,050mAh Phone
Perhaps the most visually impressive part isn’t the processor — it’s the packaging.
Vivo has managed to fit the massive battery inside a body measuring roughly 7.99mm thick.
The phone uses a 3D curved display and vivo’s Skyline Camera Module, featuring a horizontal visual treatment rather than a conventional large circular or square camera island.
The Royal Bronze option offers a warmer, more distinctive finish that separates the T5 visually from the sea of black, silver and blue Android smartphones, alongside a clean Silver Green variant.
Final Verdict: Battery Monster or Expensive Mid-Ranger?
The base model begins at ₹34,999 (dropping to an effective ₹31,499 with introductory bank offers), which is competitive enough to attract attention.
However, the 12GB + 256GB version costs ₹49,999. At nearly ₹50,000, consumers have many alternatives, and buyers should closely compare performance, cameras, charging speed and competing flagship-discount deals.
For buyers who hate carrying power banks and still want a slim, premium-looking smartphone, the T5 could be one of the more interesting new launches in its segment.
Vivo’s real achievement isn’t simply putting a 7,050mAh battery inside a smartphone — it’s putting that battery inside a phone that’s only around 7.99mm thin.
